The inspiration for this painting grew outside my front door. I had picked up a pad of this cactus when I was visiting a friend and brought it home and plopped it down in my front yard. Apparently it liked where it was, and before I knew it, the plant had grown into a huge stand of cactus. It provided me with a lot of inspiration over the years. I painted it so many times that I lost track of just how many. It finally couldn't thrive any more and we had to remove it, but I cherish the memories of the pleasure it brought to my brushes and my eyes.This painting is not currently matted or framed.
