Watercolor Painting - Christmas Eve

Chimayo Sanctuary at Christmas painting

"Chimayo Sanctuary Christmas",

Watercolor painting on 300 lb paper - 15" x 22"

It's a cold Christmas but the Sanctuary is prepared for the hosting of the Christmas Eve mass.  The luminarias, by tradition, light the way for the Christ Child.  Maybe this tradition came from Spain, but it's alive and well in the American southwest.  These paper lanterns were traditionally made from paper partially filled with sand, lit with a candle and placed along walk and roadways.

This painting is not currently matted or framed.  If you would like to purchase matting and framing for this original painting, please contact me for pricing.

Monitor settings may make a difference in the colors and values you see.  I've adjusted these photos to look as close to the originals as possible, but I cannot see what is on your monitor.  There is more information on my FAQ page about monitor settings.
